Since Melissa has been a client at Wild, she has asserted herself as a leader in classes and a contributor in all things “running” related. Her big smile and active lifestyle is contagious and we are honored to have her as December 2017’s Client Of The Month.

Please share a fun fact about yourself so we can get to know you better.

Besides being obsessed with running – I especially love running on trails – I also love to cook and make up recipes (to my husband’s and son’s dismay as sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t). I recently took a personality test at work called the DISC assessment. While this test is not the end all be all, the results showed that I am a pretty even keel person and can adapt pretty readily to various situations. I find this interesting because I am an Aquarius and we love all people and because I am 1 of 7 kids.  I am quiet and shy and love to observe. If you see me at boot camp, I am laser focused and push myself in class, but please don’t hesitate to say hi!

What goals have you met since you have joined Wild and what are you most proud of?

When I first started, I wasn’t sure if I would like being involved in a gym but exercising at home was getting boring and I didn’t feel I was progressing – not losing any more weight; not getting any stronger and my run pace was “ok”.  I came to Wild not knowing what was possible and didn’t have any expectations.  I also had this notion that losing weight was most important and that defined if you were successful. Since then, I have gotten stronger, learned about nutrition and mental health (I have adopted the Wild nutrition plan) and I have learned to listen to my body.  While weight is important, it is not the most important – strength, endurance, mental well being are equally important.  I love that the coaches push me in ways I never thought possible and while running has its ups and downs, I run smarter and belong to an awesome Wild runners group.  What I am most proud of is my tone and shape and the can do /can try attitude with the encouragement of the coaches.  I am most proud of my 09:17 min/mile at the Discovery 15K Run after a particularly hard running season and was able to sustain in my first ever Ragnar run from Madison to Chicago in the spring.

What brought you to Wild and what makes you stay?

In all honesty, if I didn’t win a raffle prize, I may not have tried Wild.  In fact, even after I submitted the interest form, it took me a month or so to pull the trigger.  But I was curious on what I had just won and wanted to try something different, something in my neighborhood and something new. I stay because of the coaches, my run friends, the varying boot camp sessions, the specialty classes (shout out to Run Wild and the Rip Shiit Up series), the nutrition support and most recently, the supplement support.  I also just completed my first cleanse and while it was not always easy, it is amazing how your body can feel – totally recommend it.  I can have extreme stress at work and Wild and the Wild family have become part of my sanctuary.

Congrats, Melissa and thank you for being a wonderful client.
