Do you have a favorite exercise? What do you like about it?

I have so many favorites!!  Boxing during a workout is probably my favorite exercise.  I like the speed and muscle use, not to mention that it is a huge stress reliever. I also like barbell workouts (squats and presses).  I prefer the heavy lifting to cardio.  Also, I have grown to accept Turkish Getups rather than loathe them (I used to call them ‘Turkish Bastards”). I am also probably one of the few people who doesn’t mind doing a burpee although I wouldn’t choose to do them. My top 3 favorite workouts of the past year are: Sweet 16, Carla’s 32nd, and New Year’s Eve day. If I’m ‘exercising’ on my own, I like biking and walking.

Least favorite? What don’t you like about it?

I don’t like mountain climbers. They seem like they should be so simple but I think the combination of the necessary arm strength, core and the rapid pace one should keep while ‘climbing’ is just a challenge I have not yet accepted.

What achievements are you most proud of?

Overall my form and strength has improved since I started. I’m most proud of doing a full Turkish Getup with weight and a 40-lb dumbbell snatch. While I haven’t seen huge weight loss, my body shape has changed tremendously and I’m more toned. I am also more conscience of making smarter decisions rather than being too reckless with my eating.

What do you like most about Wild Workouts and Wellness?

How does one choose? I love being around all of the other people. I’m quite social so I look at coming to WILD how one looks at a book club, bowling league or some other gathering.  The trainers are very knowledge and know when to push you but they also are compassionate if there is a need for a modification. The trainers also are genuinely invested in what they do for all of the WILD clients.  Ultimately, I love how coming to WILD makes me feel about myself. It’s an added bonus that I’ve become stronger, I’ve naturally lowered my blood pressure and I sleep better at night!

What advice would you give to other wild peeps?

Taking care of yourself physically is a commitment that takes practice, patience and acceptance .  Once WILD becomes a priority, it is easier to keep that commitment.

Do you have a favorite song or type of music for working out?

I like any kind of music that has a good beat and keeps me moving. I like the kind of music that has me dancing while the trainer is trying to demonstrate the next set of exercises.

What are some challenges or goals you are currently working on?

I got a FitBit as a gift for Valentine’s Day so I am currently working on ways I can get in my 10,000 steps each day. I have only hit that goal once in the time I’ve had the device so I know there is still a lot of work that needs to happen. I love metrics so this is something I can grab on to but I need to find ways to keep moving during the day. My current job is very sedentary. I am also working on the weekly challenge of making my 3x/week semi-private classes.
