Do you have a favorite exercise? Least favorite?

I really enjoy Burpee Jacks. They just seem right somehow. Also Kettle Bell Swings are always fun to do. And anything with suspension. Least favorite is probably Mountain Climbers (sorry Christy). They bother my shoulders, but much less than before I came to Wild.

What achievements are you most proud of?

This is the first time since High School that I have been on a regular work-out schedule. I was struggling to keep up with my kids, my life and my responsibilities in the Air National Guard. I knew I needed some help and got it from the moment I walked in the door.

I recently passed my Air Force Fitness test with a score of 91.6% The test is a combination of body composition, sit-ups, push-ups and a 1.5 mile run. I have been in the Air National Guard for 15 years and this was BY FAR the highest score I have ever gotten. My biggest accomplishment there was 20 push-ups… good ones!

What do you like most about Wild Workouts and Wellness?

I have great support from the coaches and the Wild community. Left to my own devices I would be a total couch potato, so the accountability is very important to me. The workouts are fun! There is not burnout from doing the same thing over and over and there is not pressure to do everything in unison. The specialty classes are great too. They are a great way to “step up your game.” I have taken the core class, buns class, and Pilates and done 2 cleanses with great success.

What advice would you give to other Wild peeps?

I was injured in Basic Training, probably because I was not physically ready for it and quite a bit older than most of the other trainees. Because of this I spent 6 months rather than the six weeks it should have taken me to complete Basic Training. When I started at Wild,  I was very worried about injuries, so I took a slow, steady approach. I often had to focus on just finishing the workout with good form. Once I got stronger, I could work on going up in weight or reps. Speaking of injuries, the nagging pains I had developed over time (shoulders, low back) have all but vanished!

Do you have a favorite song or type of music for working out?

I am a freak of nature and really don’t care what music (if any) is on. Maybe I’m just “versatile.”

What are some challenges or goals you are currently working on?

I realize that the scale doesn’t say everything, but I have 5 more pounds I would like to go away. I’d like to have more muscle definition in my arms and a little less around my mid-section. I just upped my contract to unlimited and am looking forward to the challenge of 3 or more workouts a week to help me achieve these goals.
